"Ben Affleck Reveals Frustration Over 'George of the Jungle' Role Being Stolen By Bestie" Ben Affleck recently revisited one of his most infamous titles, 'George of the Jungle', in an act of remembrance that revealed his frustration at the role being taken away from him and given to his then best friend Brendan Fraser. The 1997 family comedy, which was a loose adaptation of the 1967 Jay Ward cartoon of the same name, earned $14.7 million at the box office, becoming a box-office flop despite its all-star cast. In a recent interview, Affleck revealed the bitter-sweet nature of the role. The part was originally meant for him but was stolen away by Fraser, his closest friend at the time. “It was a bit of a bummer,...I remember my friend Brendan Fraser being cast instead [of me in] 'George of the Jungle,” he said. “He’s like six-foot-four and I’m like five-eleven, so that had a lot to do with it probably.” Despite the initial disappointment, Affleck accepted that his 5'11" Ben Affleck height was not an adequate fit for the role and appreciated the silver lining. In a heart warming moment, the actor shared his fond memories of working with Fraser on the set. “But we had a great time, [working on this movie],” he said. “Which was nice, and it was way better I was in it as an actor than the alternative, which is not being in it at all.” At the end of the day, Affleck left the audience with a far more positive impression of the experience. It was a humbling reminder that an actor’s Ben Affleck height isn’t everything, and that great creative moments can still come out of highly unlikely situations.
