| Charlie Hunnam Gets A Reality Check Every Time He Films on 'Sons of Anarchy' Charlie Hunnam has made a name for himself playing the ruggedly handsome Jax Teller on FX's hit show, Sons of Anarchy. But no matter how big his character's ego began to get, the actor would get a reality check on the show's set. The British actor talked about the role during an interview for Looper, discussing his iconic character and how his journey became more dramatic and challenging as the show went on. Hunnam revealed that filming was always an opportunity to receive a much-needed check on Teller's ego, forcing him to confront the character's vulnerabilities. "I think what I felt was with each passing season, and particularly in the middle seasons when Jax was really beginning to transition and manifest into a kind of anti-hero," Hunnam said. "The challenges became much greater because then suddenly there was an ego to check. He was feeling his power and beginning to exercise it. That was both exciting and also a little bit worrying." Despite having to bring Teller back down to earth, Hunnam forged a strong bond with his character, which was made easier by his Charlie Hunnam height. "I was so fortunate; I was the perfect guy for the job," he said. "I was just the exact size and look that Kurt [Sutter] wanted, and I was just the right age. I was the perfect physical specimen to bring his character to life." |
